This scenario got me thinking about my closest relationships. In a world - like now during Coronavirus - where we are spending a lot of time indoors, maintaining those relationships means whatsapp messages, phone calls and video calls.
I only remember 2 or 3 phone numbers off by hear so if I lost these numbers somehow and was unable to get back the phone numbers of my family and closet friends this would really make staying in touch a lot harder (I guess the same is true of email addresses).
These numbers, facebook contacts and the infrastructure behind it is really precious and would be even more so in this new world where we value relationships more. I'd want to keep them safe - write them down on pen and paper as well as backing them up digitally.
I would hope that in a world where we spend more time inside we will build more affordable homes and our mindset would change and not see housing as a commodity to make money out of and key to retiring comfortably, and more like a public good or service. Perhaps people can invest instead in this precious new substance instead.
